Passing Off Sparks Court Case
A tradesman has incurred a bill of nearly £2000 as a result of passing himself off falsely as a member of a trade association. David Pearce, an electrician from York, pleaded guilty to four charges of displaying a trade association logo he was not entitled to and one of displaying a “trust mark” that he was not entitled to use.

Treasury abandons reform of Gift Aid tax relief
Far-reaching reform of tax incentives for giving has been abandoned by the Treasury, to the dismay of cash-strapped charities desperate to encourage individuals to increase donations.

Many charities have clamoured for change to the Gift Aid tax relief system because of its low take-up, bureaucracy and complexity.
